Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. As the nation's largest wish-granting organization, a wish is granted every 37 minutes. Its our vision to grant every eligible child's wish. A vision to help heal the spirit.
Most wish requests fall into four categories: I wish to go, I wish to be, I wish to have and I wish to meet. Sock 101 and Make-A-Wish Missouri are teaming up to support wishes like Isai's who wished to be a superhero! $3 of every sock sold will go directly to Make-A-Wish to grant local wishes.
A wish is more than an experience for a day. It's a powerful force to improve the mental and emotional health of wish kids and their families. A wish improves a child's state of mind, replacing fear with happiness and helping them to feel like normal kids again. And while wishes help the kids who get them, they help their families as well. Parents report, and health professionals observe, that wish experiences help repair and strength families through a return to normalcy, and that feelings of hope and optimism replace fear and stress.
About Make-A-Wish Missouri:
Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Missouri has granted wishes to more than 5,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This year, the local chapter will grant more than 300 wishes. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true can influence the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
