What if you had to decide whether to fix your aching tooth or pay your rent? Buy food or purchase needed medicine? Some people have to make those hard choices every day. That is where Kansas City Medicine Cabinet
has been helping people in the greater KC area since 2005.
Working with 13 social service agencies and 23 intake sites, uninsured and underinsured individuals and families living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible. Emergency medical assistance is given in five areas of service: dental emergencies, diabetic supplies, durable medical equipment (including hearing aids), prescriptions and vision care.
As the 10th Anniversary of the Medicine Cabinet approaches, in excess of $4 million has been spent on more than 22,000 emergency medical services for local people in crisis on both sides of the state line.
